Techniques

Two-Stage Technique - This is the conventional or original design technique for implant placement in which your Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon inserts the implant into your jaw bone. The implants are placed beneath the gums and allowed to heal for 3-6 months. Once the implants are tightly secured in the bone, your surgeon completes a second surgery to prepare the implants so your dentist can build your new dental restoration. This Two-Stage technique is great for many patients and has a 95-98% overall success rate of implant integration.

One-Stage Technique - This is a newer technique of implant placement that allows your surgeon to place implants in one surgery. The implants are not buried under the gums - so a second surgery is not needed. Your Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon and your dentist may even work together to place a temporary restoration on the implants so you may leave your surgery without anyone knowing you had surgery. This One-Stage Technique has limitations and has many variables for your dentist and surgeon to undertake. This technique is not for all patients - although it too has a 95-98% overall success rate for implant integration.
