Sedation

Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons are extensively trained in sedation and general anesthesia. Most procedures can be accomplished with conscious or deep sedation in our office and the patient will be able to go home when you have sufficiently recovered. This means that your surgeon can tailor the sedation technique depending upon the patient's medical history and the type of surgery.

Several requirements must always be met, including but not limited to:

  • You can not have anything to eat or drink for several hours prior to your surgery (your surgeon will inform you of exact guidelines).
  • You must have someone over the age of 18 years old drive you home; a parent/guardian must drive you home if you are under 18 years of age.
  • You should wear loose/casual and comfortable clothing.
  • You should always verify all of the above conditions with your Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon prior to arrival for your scheduled surgery.
