Dr. Emilio D. Ferrara was born and raised in Kent, Ohio. He graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School and then completed his undergraduate studies at Kent State University. He earned his dental degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry and then completed his Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the Cincinnati General Medical Center (now University of Cincinnati University Hospital). After earning his surgery certificate, Dr. Em Ferrara returned to his hometown of Kent where he established his practice close to his family home and grocery store - Ferrara's Sparkle Market. He practiced at this location for 25 years before moving to his current location. Dr. Em Ferrara has been a practicing Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon for over 35 years.
Dr. Em Ferrara is a member of the Akron Dental Society, the Ohio Dental Association, The American Dental Association, the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the International Association of Dentistry as well as numerous other societies and associations. He has been an active surgeon at Robinson Memorial Hospital for over 35 years and served as the Hospital President for two terms. He has received numerous awards and appointments for his dedication and devotion to the field of dentistry and oral surgery.
Dr. Em Ferrara has served as Board Member to the Kent City School board for 30 years, serving as the President for 7 terms. He was inducted in to the Kent Roosevelt High School Hall of Fame at it's inauguration in 2000. He is an avid fan and supporter of his alma mater.
Dr. Em Ferrara is the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon for Kent State University Athletic Department. He repays his alma mater with honor as he serves on the Blue and Gold Committee, the Varsity K Club and most importantly with his enormous donations to the Varsity Men's and Women's Golf Team and Athletic Department. Dr. Em Ferrara can always be found at varsity sporting events throughout the year. Dr. Emilio Ferrara recently dedicated the Ferrara-Page Golf Teaching and Learning Facility at Kent State University. Dr. Ferrara was appointed by the Governor of Ohio to represent the State of Ohio as a Trustee to the Kent State University Board of Trustees.
Dr. Em Ferrara has remained true to his hometown and the surrounding communities of northeastern Ohio. He and his wife have raised six children in Kent. They are now proud grandparents to eight grandchildren. His association with Kent, Kent State University, Robinson Memorial Hospital, and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery has allowed Em to be an easy target - for wherever he travels around the country or around the world, he runs into someone he knows or has helped.
